Good Progress Made in April

It's coming together !! I have made my second deposit at the reception site and brought my mother along with so she can finally see the place I plan to have my event. Her instant impression with the outside of the facility was the same as mine. I guess we can be twins ..LOL She loved it just as much as I did and I can't wait till everyone takes pictures outside when the sun goes down it absolutely looks amazing at night. I would put pictures up but I guess I don't want to kill the surprise. I took her for the full tour of the place and she did not hesitate to take pictures of everything.

In that same day I took my mom with me to help make my final decision on my Wedding Gown. I had already taken My sis and Brenda shopping around with me for dresses so I had narrowed down the search. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to show the rest of my bridesmaids but I’ll make sure they get to see it when I go for my fittings.
I walked into the bridal store and the dresses I wanted were there waiting for me. I put on my favorite and watched my mom smile from ear to ear. I knew I loved the dress the first time I put it on. I didn’t want to love it because it was the first dress I ever tried on but it was THE ONE and my mom knew it. If you ask her about that day she will tell you that I stopped the whole store and everyone wanted to see me in the dress. There was a mother & daughter there who got a peek of me in the dress and waited next to my mom just to see me come out wearing it. The mother of the bride even yelled out “ buy that dress girl you look amazing’ ..LOL
It was important to me to have my mom see and approve this dress before I brought it and I am so happy that she loved it just as much as I did. So the search for the dress is OVER. The dress has been brought and I should have it in by May.

Also, Got my deposit down for my Photographer and Videographer a Husband wife duo that offered the best rates I had seen anywhere. I took my sister with me to go over the contract and to show her the quality of pictures and video they provide.( My sister if you do not already know is also getting married April 2010.I will be standing as Maid of honor next to our Best friend/Cousin Brenda.)It felt good to get so much done this month and get back on track with my wedding websites.

I have to get my Bridesmaids together to plan their dresses out but thanks to Brenda and My sis I have the color picked out and that was a big step ..LOL I thought the ladies would prefer a darker earth tone color but they actually went with ....well I’ll keep that a surprise as well..LOL

** Gloomy days be gone ***

This year started off with so much heartache for our family. The loss of my Uncle Nelson Torres in January was very unexpected and sudden. I am blessed to have so many good memories of him as I spent a lot of my crazy teens and twenties hanging out with my uncle. The loss of my uncle so suddenly leaves so much pain and regret in my heart of the things I wish I could have said, hoping that he knew how much I loved him. I plan to gather some music of his to play during my reception at my wedding as I knew he wanted to be there that night to party with all the family.

In February Angel and I struggled with our cars and getting them to work. They both ended up in the shop and one is still out of commission. We are thankful for the one we have now and that we work in the same building that we can Car-pool. I have to admit I do miss my morning singing sessions and my drive home concert. Everyday was a performance to remember ..LOL

Later this month the news of my Grandfather being very ill reached us from Puerto Rico. Still mourning the passing of her brother my mother and her sisters took a flight out to Puerto-Rico to be with their father in his final days. They were there insuring he was as comfortable as possible and surrounded by loved ones. I was fortunate to be able to talk to Papa before he passed and I take some comfort in knowing he is in a better place and not in pain anymore. In my heart he was one of the strongest men I have ever met and if you had the pleasure of meeting him you would know that he was always honest with you and gave it to you the way he saw it. Very respected and so loved by all his grandkids I will miss my grandpa dearly.

My family has seen many gloomy days but we are strong and here for each other and I know we can get through this together. I am very grateful to have the support at home from my fiancé Angel who has been very understanding and compassionate and helping me through these times. I feel truly blessed for him as well as my family and cousins and the friends who have stepped up to help out .

I did question whether having the wedding this year was appropriate after all that had taken place. I found comfort and strength through the words of my cousin Danny(FIN) to be able to continue through with the plans that I had arranged. Danny made me realize it’s about bringing us all together for something other than a funeral and helping the family celebrate life. I received an enormous response with this same message from my sister, Aunts, and Mother that helped ease my mind and keep me focus on sticking with my plans.

To all of my family and friends I thank you for being there for us through these hard times and I pray that you are all doing well .

2010 is on it's way !!

2009 is about to come to an end and what an amazing year it has been. I have to admit it really did open my eyes to a few things that I did not know about myself. I thought at first saying it that it sounded funny ..how could you not know yourself? You think you would know everything there is to know about your ownself but trust me there are a few things I believe everyone hides from themselves. I know now that Im great for giving advice but Im bad at taking my own. It wasn't untill after all things seemed to bury me and stress was at it's highest and funds were at there lowest ever did I begin to hear my own words. I remembered the things I would tell my friends and realized that there was no need to worry not stress the things that you can't change but focus on what you can take charge of and prepare yourself for. There is always a way you just have to trust in god and yourself to get yourself there. Im attacking every problem that comes up now differntly and it has helped to relieve stress. Why it took me this long .. not sure this advice was givin to me years ago in a church youthgroup and I have given it many times to others.. I guess I take alot longer to process it for myself ..LOL

I also realized this year that im much better at organizing than I thought I would be. Alot of help comes from the internet sites and forums and worksheets that help to set budgets and keep me on track to my home finances and retirment funds to of course the Big ONE right now ..The Wedding !! Giggle giggle

So many things this year to be thankfull for I truely feel blessed. To my family and Friends Im wishing you all the best for 2010. May your homes be filled with Love Laughter and Wealth.

Holiday Cards are Out

So the first announcement is on it's way out the door and I can not be more excited !! The photo that is displayed was taken the second week of November before the leaves had all fallen from the tree outside my parents home.

The Photographer did an amazing job and there are more pictures posted in our album on our wedding site but they come out very small. I will be making an online album soon so I will try to improve that.

I hope everyone loves the card and remembers the date 10/10/2010. It is bit different to do a wedding on a Sunday but the date was perfect for me. I have a very bad memory but now having 10/10/2010 will insure I never forget an anniversary ...LOL I hope that a Sunday wedding will not become a problem for anyone it means alot to have my family and closest friends present for my wedding.

This really does feel surreal while I send out these announcements and as I am booking vendors for the wedding.I'm very blessed to have my closest family and friends at my side helping me do my research and keeping me sane as I organize myself for the big day.

So far, Angel has visited reception halls with me and we have secured a place for our date. The girls were able to help me figure out theme and decor as my mind was running wild with crazy ideas.I have secured the Photographer and Videographer as well as the Ceremony location. So what's left you might be wondering

The Pastor to perform the Ceremony

A Ultimate DJ and entertainment

Oh , and of course the dress.

Alot of the odds and ends are being brought all the time but My main worries are the ones above so if you have any references you would like to share please feel free to let me know.

I am completley enjoying planning for this special day and it is so wonderfull knowing that while celebrating our most special day taking steps towards our future together as husband and wife we will be surrounded by the love of our family and friends.
